Tour of Alberta Announces Key Partnerships for 2017

EDMONTON, ALBERTA – The ATB Tour of Alberta announced the involvement of 37 key partners at a press conference today.

The majority of funding for the event comes from the roster of official partners, including provincial, national and international leaders:

Highlights of the key partnerships include:


In addition to being the title partner of the event, ATB Financial will present the most coveted jersey daily, the ATB Leader Jersey. The Yellow Jersey is awarded to the winner of the first stage on day one, then to the rider with the best cumulative time in the event on the following days.


With an anticipated return to Alberta’s majestic Rocky Mountains, the 2017 Tour will kick-off the first stage of racing with an epic return to the mountains during the Delta Air Lines Stage One: Jasper to Marmot Basin Ski Area on September 1.


The polka-dot Lexus of Edmonton King of the Mountain jersey will be presented daily to the best climber. Lexus of Edmonton is also the official automotive provider for the ATB Tour of Alberta.


Pomeroy Inn & Suites Stage Three: Edmonton (University of Alberta) on September 3 will bring the race back into Alberta’s capital city. The Pomeroy Inn and Suites Top Canadian Jersey will also be presented daily to the race’s top Canadian rider each day.


The Green Jersey known as the EllisDon Sprint Points Jersey will be presented daily to the cyclist who has accumulated the most points in intermediate sprints and at various stages of the race. Most difficult stages are worth more points at the finish line and are based upon the order of riders at the end of the stage instead of accumulated time. Additionally, the EllisDon Stage Four: Edmonton (Churchill Square) will close off the 2017 Tour on September 4, Labour Day Monday, in a battle on Edmonton’s iconic finale circuit through the heart of downtown Edmonton.
